The Eight Spotted Forester Moth is relatively common in the eastern US and Canada, but not seen that often even though it is a daytime flyer and has very distinctive black wings, white spots and cute orange "half leggings" on its forelegs. This is the first one I came across and I spent a little time with it and observed it flashing rapidly to attract a mate. Being no moth expert I found there is surprisingly little detailed info about these creatures in the adult stage. As larvae they can be quite destructive.
