The Rock Vole is probably the rarest of the high mountain mammals in the Smokies. Watch closely and you'll see this chunky vole scoot back and forth day and night along the small mountain spring ???????????? at nearly 4 thousand foot elevation among the mossy rocks and boulders and fallen logs on a steep slope that the spring trickles out from. There is a hint of a yellow nose in the videos that Rock Voles have, but they move so fast it's hard to document. Not all Rock Voles display much yellow on their face. This is an ideal Rock Vole habitat, but I'm not 100% sure they are rock voles, but I don't know what other vole or lemming would be likely to choose this habitat. #wildlife #animallovers #vole
