I captured the elusive Blue Jay "growl call" this morning testing out a new compact Hawke spotting scope with my phone. More on that later. The Blue Jay Rattle Call or Growl Call is one of the least heard of their many interesting calls. Often thought to be a contact call with a mate, especially in heavy cover like this, or a low-level alert call it is fascinating. The third clip was accidentally recorded in slow motion giving the growls and ominous sound. #birds #birdwatching
