A visit with the fascinating Florida Scrub Jays. Such personalities these special Corvids have in their little remaining areas of habitat. The Florida Scrub Jay is the only bird endemic to Florida and is listed as threatened under the endangered species act and rapid critical habitat loss continues.
The Florida scrub-jay is a blue and gray bird about the size of a blue jay.
Scrub-jays have blue wings, head, and tail, and gray back and underparts, and a whitish forehead and neck. Unlike blue jays, this species does not have black markings or a crest.
Their personality is very different than their cousins the Blue Jays, Scrub Jays are generally much quieter, less aggressive and lower profile than the ubiquitous blue jays.
