Mademoiselle in New York showcases the many talents of Lucienne Renaudin Vary, here joined by her two brothers Philémon (double bass) and Bartholomé (guitar). Discover the album:
As Lucienne explains, this 1963 song (written by Bobby Hebb) is a number that they have often played together at home and which is “full of sun, light and hope.”
Her next album makes a musical transatlantic crossing with selections by primarily American and French composers, from Bernstein and Gershwin to Ravel and Aznavour. "Trumpet players and singers breathe in the same way," says Lucienne. "I spend a lot of time listening to singers: I’m fascinated by their spontaneity, expressiveness, phrasing and the relationship between music and words.”
The album was recorded in London, conveniently located between France and the USA, where Lucienne teamed up with the BBC Concert Orchestra and conductor/arranger/producer Bill Elliott, renowned as a pianist, bandleader, Hollywood composer and Tony Award-winning Broadway orchestrator.
