Mourning Doves Drink Water Differently Than Other Birds

Almost all of the birds except the doves put their beaks in the water then turned their heads up to swallow. The doves were different. They put their beaks in the water and suck it up like through a straw. This unique drinking method allows them to swallow more water and watch for predators while drinking. Here is a good example.
