With his performance, Siakam has joined Charles Barkley (37 points, 21 rebounds, 8 assists on 11/7/1992) as the only players since 1976-77 to match or exceed 34 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists in a season opener. Barkley went on to win the MVP award that season. The Pelicans’ Brandon Ingram led the team with 22 points (8-19 FG), along with 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks in his team debut. With the win, the Raptors improve to 1-0, while the Pelicans fall to 0-1 on the season.
