Liquid nitrogen rockets are awesome, you put some water in a PET plastic bottle, add some liquid nitrogen to the top and then flip it over. Once flipped over the liquid nitrogen rises to the top of the container because it’s less dense than water… at the same time, the liquid nitrogen evaporates extremely quickly as it comes into contact with the water. The result is a ton of nitrogen gas that builds pressure and pushes out the remaining water in the container. This creates jet propulsion and then the whole container goes flying through the air!
Also, my whole crew thinks we’re just going out to the desert to do this liquid nitrogen rocket video, but I wanted to do something a little different and I think I’ve been watching too many Mr.Beast and Dobrik videos because I wanted to give away $1,000 … but in a very special way. I work with this crew all the time and they’ve become more than just my friends, they’re like family to me, so I wanted to do something fun by combining the liquid nitrogen rocket experiment and a fun challenge to hook them up. So here’s how this challenge is going to work. We start with two liters for rockets and the first person to launch this and then catch it will go first for the 5 gallon liquid nitrogen rockets… which on occasion do blow up. The first person to launch and catch the 5 gallon container will receive the money!
I gave everyone the ability to choose how much liquid nitrogen they wanted in their rockets to further let them control this challenge. And when it comes to liquid nitrogen rockets, longer pour times means more liquid nitrogen in the rocket. This also means more thrust and a higher distance the rocket will go which should buy you more time to catch it… it also means the rocket has a higher chance of exploding in your face! It’s a delicate balance, so let’s hope everyone gets it right!
