How to activate your Digital Key

In this video BMW How-To explains how to turn your smartphone into a vehicle key. With the BMW Digial Key you can lock, unlock and start your vehicle or share it with friends and family.
The Digital Key function is available with a Samsung device or a key card. In order to use your Digital Key for starting the engine it always needs to be placed on the wireless charging tray.
For activating your Digital Key, you need to have your vehicle key with you. The Digital Key will be recognised. Activate it by pressing "Activate digital key" and your Digital Key will be ready. Now you can start the vehicle by pressing the start/stop button.
The BMW Digital Key menu in which you can activate, deactivate or remove Digital Keys can be found via
- CAR
- Settings
- Doors/vehicle access
- BMW Digital Key.
Good to know: Not everyone can deactivate or remove the Digital Keys. The vehicle key needs to be with you in the vehicle or an active Digital Key belonging to the vehicle owner needs to be on the wireless charging tray.
To remove a Digital Key, select the Digital Key in the same menu and choose remove Digital Key.
