The last of two surviving Eastern Screech Owlets left the nest Saturday night bringing an end to the 2019 Owl Season. Not sure why two died, including the eldest, this is the first year that any hatched owlets have died. I suspect pesticide treatment in some neighboring area where they hunt, but two healthy owlets are now out in the World and that is a success! Thanks to all who watched, donated, cared and worried over this last owlet and its sibling who struggled with death, disease and pests and yet still persevered to live wild and free.
