There are over a hundred species of Mayflies in the Great Smoky Mountains. The females fly low over the surface of our little spring fed mountain stream and lay their eggs by repeatedly dipping their abdomens into the water and depositing a few eggs until they are all done. Its fascinating and kind of mesmerizing to watch.
