Amazing 4K close-up of Pileated Woodpecker pecking and eating bugs for over 5 minutes. This male Pileated Woodpecker is working away to get at some juicy high-protein larvae in that post. This is the best video shoot I've had so close to these big "Woody Woodpeckers" in action and he also has the best hairdo I've seen. It is simply amazing how hard they can hammer this pressure treated 4x4 post which should be bug-free - but a sign was screwed into the other side and that let the bugs in that tunnel in from the other side and the larvae grow and the super-intelligent woodpecker has learned to target these posts with signs.
