Black and White warblers are coming down more often to bathe in the cold mountain spring -- deep in the forest of the Great smoky Mountains this summer. This is the first time I got them clearly on video for long periods. So you're in for a treat!
These are probably birds that fledged earlier this breeding season and are now out on their own. Young and female Black and White Warblers are more whitish on their throats with lighter breast streaking than mature males.

Nicknamed the “Zebra Warbler” These warblers make basic Black and White look good - and are always exciting to see. They are fast-moving and secretive birds that stay hidden in the forest during breeding season as they forage up and down tree trunks and at the base of leaves much like a Brown Creeper or Nuthatch. Their rear toe is elongated and thicker than that of other wood-warblers to support vertical foraging and an upside down style,
and its thin, slightly curved bill helps it get into bark crevices for caterpillars and grubs.
Its rare to catch more than a fleeting glimpse of these warblers, but here we can appreciate them at length - also watch for a special appearance of a Black Throated Yellow Warbler toward the end that joins the Black and White – a rare double warbler bath experience.
