It is the 50th anniversary of the very first Doctor Who episode this week! And we have some very special Head Squeeze Doctor Who videos for you!

Whovians, Greg Foot is answering the ultimate question; can a human have two hearts?

If the Doctor can function with two hearts, can we as humans have two hearts?

Well, it turns out that, aside from conjoined twins, no human is born with two hearts.

In the case of extreme heart disease, rather than receiving a donor heart and having your own removed, doctors can actually graft a new heart on to your own heart to help share the work. This is more commonly known as a piggy back heart.

In the UK a young lady called Hannah Clark had a piggy back heart when she was very young. When she was 12 years old doctors had to remove her donor heart due to her failing health. When the surgeons carried out the procedure they found that her original heart had healed so much that she did not need another donor heart and made a full recovery!
