The foam fountain of science is a super cool chemistry experiment that shows what a catalyst does…(not a catapult, lol). This reaction combines hydrogen peroxide and potassium iodide (the catalyst in the reaction). The potassium iodide reacts with the H202 and strips an oxygen molecule off creating oxygen gas. This gas gets caught up in the soap that is added to the hydrogen peroxide solution. The result is foam and a TON of it. The shape of the Erlenmeyer flasks (aka the beakers) builds pressure of the newly foaming foam and allows for a literal stream of shooting foam.
